The Kings and Queens Read. Summer Youth Literacy Program is for youth ages 5-17. This literacy program helps to eradicate illiteracy by engaging youth to complete book reports, write essays, build vocabulary/fluency, literary work collaboration with peers and more. Parents and caregivers of registered youth are encouraged to get involved also and will be provided some engaging strategies. Parents/caregivers, children and community are welcome to attend. On June 6, Phat Daddy's BBQ will sponsor the lunch. HalfPrice Books will again provide books for the program; Fueling Our Future will again provide daily healthy lunches for all youth (no registration required for summer feeding program) at reading station #1. Community partners/sponsors will provide prizes, awards and complimentary coupons weekly for registered youth who complete literary goals. Three reading stations have been set up for convenience. On Saturday, August 22, the summer awards and back-to-school event will be held also at the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce. Contact Janet Y.
